We’ve already been in training camp for 2 weeks, it’s flown by. The hardest adjustment for me has probably been doing laundry in buckets, it’s rained a lot here making it hard to line dry our clothes. Although sleeping in a tent has been tricky, I’m starting to somehow enjoy the coziness of it. I do occasionally sleep in my hammock when it’s not freezing. This past week was less teachings and more practicals/ scenarios of sharing the gospel with people who have never heard the name Jesus before.

Many people were given roles for our squad this week like treasurer or logistics. Me and two others (Cas and Abby) were asked to be our squads worship coordinators. We’re responsible for organizing weekly worship for our squad. I’ve been able to play my guitar a lot lately which just gives me so much joy because it’s one of the ways I feel closest to God.

God bless,

Shelby

Hi everyone and welcome to my World Race blog! I am beyond excited for this next season of life. I leave August 29th for Gainesville, GA where we will do a couple weeks of training before heading out to the nations! This past March I went on a mission trip to Colombia with my church. This was a a very influential trip for me. God revealed to me the importance of international mission and placed the burden on my heart to take the next school year to serve. Since a child, the Lord has put in me a deep desire for world travel. And since then my love for Jesus has only grown, making international mission an exciting and purpose filled opportunity for me! Unfortunately, a mission of this extent comes at a price. Even though we are serving the Lord, housing, plane tickets, and food are not free. And a non-profit organization is not equipped to financially support multiple groups of people in this endeavor. Any and every donation is so greatly appreciated. Thank you!
