Colombia is starting to fly by. This week my team helped with recycling and English classes. We thought we would helping teach kids, but the class was for adults. They spoke fairly good English, so we helped them by just having normal conversations, which helped us to learn more about Colombian culture and lifestyle. It was fun!

I’m one of three worship coordinators for the squad. As coordinators we decided to have squad worship every Monday night on our rooftop terrace. Last Monday I got to lead our squad with my guitar in some worship. This is a gift that the Lord has been refining in me very quickly since being here. I only started teaching myself to play just over a year ago, and never would have dreamed of being a worship leader. The other day I was able to go to a senior center with some others on the squad. They were asking for someone who could play guitar to come along. While some painted nails and cut hair for those in the center, I got to sing some English and Spanish worship for them. Many seniors got up to dance, it was beautiful and heartwarming, and I’m so glad that the Lord blessed me to use my gift in that way.

Thursday’s are our “adventure days”. Where they encourage us to go out in groups to explore the City. This week, me and three other girls took an hour long uber up a mountain to see a waterfall. Only to find out the that it was closed. We hung out at the top and explored for a while anyway. We even found a stream through the forest and hiked up it for a ways, it was beautiful. We started walking down the mountain towards a restaurant we saw on the map. The restaurant had an awesome view, and was Texas themed. And the food was sooo good. Being that it was in an obscure place, there was almost no one else there. They were pretty excited to have a couple Americans. Once finished, we tried to get an uber to take us down, but no one wanted to come back up the mountain. We ended up stuck at that restaurant for 5 hours, but those were the best 5 hours of my week! It began storming pretty hard while there, and the building ended up getting struck by lightning! It was crazy. The owner and waitress were so kind. They let us sing karaoke, and played Jenga and Uno with us. The foundation we’re staying with ended up having to send someone to come get us; we were so thankful. It was a day that could’ve been scary, being trapped on a mountain in a foreign country, but the Lord allowed it to become a sweet memory.

The Lord has been slowly teaching our the squad the heart of service. In just 2 months, I’ve seen maturity in every one of these 18-20 year olds hearts, including my own. It’s beautiful. Some people have been going out to evangelize on their days off and I hope to join them sometime soon.

I’m at about 65% funded! The Lord’s been good to me! However, I’ve still got 35% to go before February 13th. Please pray for the Lord to stir the hearts of anyone willing to donate.

God bless!

Hi everyone and welcome to my World Race blog! I am beyond excited for this next season of life. I leave August 29th for Gainesville, GA where we will do a couple weeks of training before heading out to the nations! This past March I went on a mission trip to Colombia with my church. This was a a very influential trip for me. God revealed to me the importance of international mission and placed the burden on my heart to take the next school year to serve. Since a child, the Lord has put in me a deep desire for world travel. And since then my love for Jesus has only grown, making international mission an exciting and purpose filled opportunity for me! Unfortunately, a mission of this extent comes at a price. Even though we are serving the Lord, housing, plane tickets, and food are not free. And a non-profit organization is not equipped to financially support multiple groups of people in this endeavor. Any and every donation is so greatly appreciated. Thank you!
