Each week that goes by in Colombia, I fall in love with the country more and more. This week my team was on kids ministry. They only needed us to help with kids on Saturday morning, so for the duration of the week we helped the church with recycling and then helped other teams with their ministry. On Saturday morning, we walked a little ways down the street to pick up some of the kids and brought them back to the foundation where we colored and played games with them for a couple hours. Then we fed them some lunch and walked them back home! It was super fun getting to interact with local kids. I’ve been learning lots of Spanish here, but my level is about that of a child, so it was fun getting to talk with them in Spanish. Later that day, three of us on our team got to help teach a basic level English class with the two German volunteers also working at the foundation. There were only three people in the class, two kids and an adult, and we thought them simple sentence structure things. The German volunteers (Stefanie & Moritz) led the class mostly, and we helped with what we could.

Thursday was our adventure day. I went with about 20 others to a few on top of a mountain where you could paraglide or hang glide. It was so beautiful up on the mountain. The view was incredible, and sometimes we were in a cloud! I didn’t go paragliding because I felt I needed to discern my money better. But I brought my guitar, drank coffee, and hung out on the mountain. I absolutely love when we get to go up the mountains on days off because the air is so much more noticeably clear and fresh and it’s quiet, the only thing you hear is birds and wind. It wasn’t too hot, but I got a little sunburnt because of how much closer we were to the sun. It’s so crazy to me to be sunburnt in November, but I love it.

Most evenings, me and a few other from the squad hang out on the terrace and play Secret Hitler with Stefanie and Moritz. They’re the same age as us, so it’s super fun! We don’t have much time left here at the foundation, we will miss them.

I also recently designed a fundraising tshirt to help me raise more money! I’ll include a picture and a link for it! I still need about $6,000 more to pay for the rest of my trip, so please keep me in your prayers!

Hi everyone and welcome to my World Race blog! I am beyond excited for this next season of life. I leave August 29th for Gainesville, GA where we will do a couple weeks of training before heading out to the nations! This past March I went on a mission trip to Colombia with my church. This was a a very influential trip for me. God revealed to me the importance of international mission and placed the burden on my heart to take the next school year to serve. Since a child, the Lord has put in me a deep desire for world travel. And since then my love for Jesus has only grown, making international mission an exciting and purpose filled opportunity for me! Unfortunately, a mission of this extent comes at a price. Even though we are serving the Lord, housing, plane tickets, and food are not free. And a non-profit organization is not equipped to financially support multiple groups of people in this endeavor. Any and every donation is so greatly appreciated. Thank you!
